Send Me A Letter

We're not here for the glory, the glamor, the prestige, or even the wealth. Sure, all of those things would come naturally from being one of the premier sources of information in the 16-bit gaming world, but we have gladly shunned all of these things for a much higher purpose. The reason that we're here is for the sake of our legion of loyal fans. That's right...it's all about you!

Since we're here to cater to your every TurboGrafx related need, we like to hear from you, so that we can know what you're thinking. How do you like the site? What strides can we take to improve? What is your philosophy on life? We want to know all of these and more, so feel free to send us an e-mail and let us know what you're thinking. We'll be waiting with eager anticipation.

Hi there from Japan,

I typed TurboGrafx on google and your website came up. I am a staff member of a video game company in Japan. I didn't know that there are tons of people who still remember TurboGrafx games. I've been in a responsible team for TurboGrafx games (they'll be on Wii and sometimes 360). We worked on a lot of TurboGrafx games for Japan, US, and Europe to find and change stuff of oldies. We know what games will be on Wii, shhhhhhhhh... heh heh. We have to work on 600 games.

Working at a gaming company isn't as romantic as people think, but it is nice. Anyway, those fans are a treasure to us. I'm sorry that we have to remove or edit stuff from original games as the things are being stricter these days than in the 80s-90s, but we don't have to do such abuse on USA and Europe versions much. You might enjoy the Wii versions.

Warm Regards,

One of the Staff ;)

Dear HumanTorsos,

Your sign-on name is very catchy, and I have to give your credit for that. I'm not sure if I should ask what the inspiration was or not. To be honest, there seem to be more of a dedicated handful of TurboGrafx loyalists on the stateside versus tons of people. Many of my friends, although they grew up during the prime years for NEC gaming, have no idea what a TurboGrafx is, nor do they know what they are missing. Thankfully, the Wii has helped to introduce the TurboGrafx to a whole new demographic of Americans that were never exposed to it before. Although I must admit that I am a staunch advocate for experiencing the game in its original format, I am certainly thankful for the exposure that Nintendo's latest endeavor has brought to my beloved classic console. Thanks for all your hard work and I wish you the best of luck in your future projects.

Kudos...

Fabio

I came on your website seeking info on how to setup my old Turbografx system from when I was a kid. Is the "RF" system you speak of something that is only on old TVs? I am unfamiliar with the term. What do I need to hookup the system?

I found it in my folks' basement last year and has since been sitting in the closet. If it is not compatible or I can't figure it out, should I try to sell it on Ebay? From your site it seems like a bunch of folks like it still, are they on older TVs? I used to love the game, it'd be great to play it when the wife goes to bed....

Peace and thanks a lot,

dp

dp,

An RF connector is an old-school coaxial cable connector, like you'd see on a cable TV box or a cable modem. If your current TV doesn't have this type of connector, you can buy a little box that will convert the RF input to the more typical RCA/AV output. Alternatively, you could try to pick up a Turbo Booster on eBay. These allowed gamers to use RCA connectors on their original TurboGrafx unit.

My personal recommendation is to blow the dust off that bad boy and put it back into action. I've found that even after all these years, the TurboGrafx stands the test of time, with many quality titles to choose from. If you do end up selling it, eBay is a good way to go. I personally use a TurboDuo, which includes RCA connectors, so I'm not sure what avenue most people take with the original TurboGrafx console and a newer TV. My guess is that they go with the convertor that I mentioned earlier, as the Turbo Booster is not all that easy to come by.

Good Luck And Great Gaming...

Just a follow up from a TG-16/Duo fan, and Turbografx.net fan!

I wrote you earlier this year about how I found my way, and happiness, once again in the TG-16/Duo. I now have 18 games, and have bought and sold a few along the way. I also now have 4 controllers, with one more coming to complete the full set of 5!

I was just sitting here at work, bored and thinking. You guys should set up a for sale/wanted to buy type section. People could post if they have games/accersories for sale privately or on Ebay. Or people could post looking for games/accessories. Being a moderator of a certain automobile message board, I know how messy liability can get for transactions gone bad. So it may not be in your best interests to do this. Just an idea.

Also, would you happen to know where I can get some TG16 t-shirts? I used to have a few back in the day; a black one with a large TG-16 logo on the front, a Devil's Crush t-shirt and an Air Zonk T-shirt. In this day and age of hipsters wearing "retro" shirts, getting ahold of one of these would definately make me the coolest kid on the block!

TurboGrafx Fan from the begining,

Chris

Chris,

Sorry for the very late reply, but my time to work on turbografx.net related stuff has been very minimal as of late. That should change over the next month or so, though, with my schedule finally slowing down a bit.

Anyway, it sounds like you're building quite a collection for the TurboGrafx and I know that you won't be disappointed. As for the Turbo Tap, it's always great to get the opportunity to share the joy of Turbo gaming with a few friends. I just recently survived a very intense round of Bomberman '93, and you can bet that I'll be sharpening my skills for the next round.

Your idea about a message board detailing Turbo related items for sale is a great one, and indeed it is already being implemented by one of our fellow TurboGrafx web site brethren, PCEngineFX.com. If you haven't visited their message board, you owe it to yourself to do so. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best way to stay current on all things Turbo.

T-shirts related to the TurboGrafx seem to be a tough thing to come by. The best that I can tell you is to peruse some of the web sites on the turbografx.net links page. Not to sound like I have an endorsement contract with these guys or anything, but PCEngineFX.com is also one of the sites that offers t-shirts for sale.

Keep On Fightin' The Good Fight...

Hi! Fabio,

I'm Alexandra friend of William, the guy that you met in El Colorado (Chile). I hope that you still remember me...ha ha.

Sorry that I didnīt write before, but I had a lot of troubles with your email. William lost it and he thinks that this is it. I'm crossing my fingers for that because I really wanted to get Fabio's exclusive city tour for one day...he he. Sights at day, clubs and bars at night.

I will be in New York around the 15th of September until the 23rd, so I hope you can have a few minutes for me.

Thanks,

Ale

Alexandra,

The person that you describe in your e-mail does sound quite a bit like me. I have been known to frequent El Colorado, but then who hasn't? My memories of that tropical oasis are like none other. Then there's the whole clubbin' scene, of which I am of course a seasoned veteran. A night on the town just couldn't be complete without Fabio!

Unfortunately, although many people remember meeting me, I am not able to remember all of them. With such a constantly busy schedule of reviewing games and long romantic strolls on the beach, it's certainly understandable. As a result, I can't quite place you, and I definitely don't live in New York city. Perhaps you have me confused with another Fabio?

In the meantime, may a suggest a few rounds of rigorous TurboGrafx gaming in place of your night on the town? The recently reviewed Salamander is a great choice and you can never go wrong with any of Bonk's adventures. If you're looking for something more on the CD side, perhaps Dracula X will tickle your fancy.

Happy Trails...

Fabio

Title: Gates Of Thunder?

Hi,

Do you happen to know if anyone is selling a copy of Gates of Thunder for TurboGrafx-16?

Thanks,

Charlotte

Charlotte,

If you're like most of us, you probably don't live in a city where there are a lot of vintage game dealers reside. As a result, your best bet is often eBay, although you do have to watch out for inflated prices. My guess is that you should be able to pick up Gates of Thunder for a reasonable price, since it was one of the pack-in games for the Turbo Duo. I can tell you from personal experience that Gates of Thunder is one of the best titles released on American shores, so you're certainly in for a treat.

Best Of Luck...

Fabio
